Colts fans pack the ice with teddy bears against Wolves (14 photos)

Barrie loses 6-3 to Sudbury; Colts back in action on Saturday night when they host the North Bay Battalion at the BMC

Barrie Colts fans had to wait until the dying seconds of the first period before they could toss their teddy bears onto the Barrie Molson Centre ice, Thursday night.

The referees ended the period early, carrying over the remaining 75 seconds to the second period while the stuffies were gathered up and removed from the ice.

Fans were encouraged to bring their teddy bears to the rink for the annual Monte Carlo Inns Teddy Bear Toss game.

But the middle frame wasn't very kind to the Colts, as the Wolves scored four unanswered goals in about seven minutes to make it 5-2 for Sudbury at the end of two periods.

Colts veteran Jason Willms narrowed that margin to 5-3 early in the third period with his eighth goal of the year, but Sudbury's Owen Robinson put the game out of reach with a goal midway through the third.

The final was 6-3 for Sudbury.

Scoring for Barrie were Willms, Mathew Hill and Jacob Tortora, while Sudbury's offence was produced by Newmarket native Quinton Byfield (2), Peter Stratis, Blake Murray, Ryan O'Bonsawin and Owen Robinson.

With the win, the Wolves improve to 20-8-1-1 and sit in a tie with the Niagara IceDogs for second place in the OHL's Eastern Conference. With the loss, the Colts fall to 15-15-1 and sit eighth in the East.
