Collision on Sideroad 20 in Innisfil sends two people to hospital

Eastbound car failed to yield to traffic and struck a vehicle that was southbound on Sideroad 20, police say

Traffic on Sideroad 20 was held up on Wednesday afternoon, after a two-vehicle collision sent both drivers to hospital.

A white car eastbound on Line 6 of Innisfil failed to yield to traffic, and struck a vehicle that was southbound on Sideroad 20.

The force of the collision sent both vehicles into opposite ditches, and both drivers to hospital with unspecified injuries. There were no passengers in either car.

“It’s our typical collision here,” said South Simcoe Police Sgt. Sean Willan, directing traffic at the scene.

He suggested the crashes could be blamed in part on the topography of the area.

There is a hill just north of Line 6. Vehicles travelling along Line 6 may be blind to traffic southbound on Sideroad 20, cresting the hill, “if they don’t do that second check at the stop sign,” he said.

Charges are pending against the driver of the eastbound vehicle..
