Collision leads to impaired charge for scooter driver

OPP responded to a complaint from a concerned citizen that a scooter had been involved in a single vehicle collision

TOWN OF PENETANGUISHENE – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint from a concerned citizen that a scooter had been involved in a single vehicle collision.

The collision took place at approximately 9:01 p.m. on June 4, 2016 at Main Street and Robert Street in Penetanguishene, ON.

Police located the involved scooter a short time later on Robert Street East in Penetanguishene, ON. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by police.

Morris Marion (age 68) of Penetanguishene has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 16, 2016 in Midland, ON.

The OPP would like to thank the public for helping keep our communities safe by reporting these incidents of impaired driving.
