On Thursday, June 29, 2016 at 12:24 p.m. Barrie Police were called to the intersection of Innisfil Street and Peacock Lane, in the City of Barrie, for a collision between a bicycle and vehicle. 

A 12-year-old Barrie male was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center and later transferred to a Toronto area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

The Barrie Police Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident and speaking to witnesses. At this time, no charges have been determined.

Barrie Police would like to remind cyclists to practice proper rules of the road and ensure proper safety equipment is used including a helmet, lights and reflectors. 

Also, drivers are reminded to be extra attentive of children on bicycles and playing near roadways as school has come to an end this week.
