Collingwood resident Gerald McCulloch marked his 104th birthday yesterday.
McCulloch, a resident of Chartwell Georgian Traditions, was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Lincolnshire, England.
His career in aircraft mechanics began with the British Royal Air Force from 1939 to 1946. He lived in Egypt, Greece, Italy, and moved to Canada in 1951. He married in 1949 and enjoyed 64-and-a-half years of marriage.
In Canada, McCulloch worked on the development of the Avro Arrow jet. His love for cars and engines endures.
His secret for living to 104 is "fresh country air and luck."
"Live your life for today," he said.
He and the residents and staff at Georgian Traditions enjoyed his favourite dinner: roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with all the fixings.
