Collingwood man accused of burning Collingwood home

COLLINGWOOD - Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a male with arson after being called to a residence on Oak Street in Collingwood.

On May 24, 2016 shortly after 9 p.m. OPP officers, along with members of the Collingwood Fire Department, were dispatched to a residence on Oak Street for reports of a residential fire.

Police investigation led to the arrest of a male resident of the dwelling who was later transported to Collingwood detachment for processing.

Charged is a 36-year-old resident of Collingwood, he is facing charges of arson – disregard for human life and mischief.

He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
