NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF BARRIE

*************************
The City of Barrie is holding a community consultation on Wednesday, November 18, to discuss the future of the Dorian Parker Centre.

The event will take place at the Dorian Parker Centre, located at 227 Sunnidale Road, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Dorian Parker Centre is located within one of Barrie’s largest parks, Sunnidale Park.

The 147-acre parcel of passive parkland is not only home to the Dorian Parker Centre, a former golf clubhouse, but also home to the Barrie Horticultural's arboretum, open space, a wooded area, a newly renovated playground and a Dog Off-Leash area.

This property was once the home of the Barrie Country Club, which moved to St. Vincent Street in the mid-1960s.

Since the 60’s, the Dorian Parker Centre has been used for social functions, meetings, seminars, recreation programs, banquets and family events.

The centre comfortably holds 120 people and currently has a fully equipped kitchen, with banquet tables and chairs.

Anyone who is unable to attend the consultation event can also provide feedback by emailing [email protected] or calling 705-739-4299.

City staff will take all feedback into consideration when developing recommendations on the centre, in a future staff report to Council.
