Chip in to help clean up the city's parks and public spaces

Around 18,000 people participated in last year's Spring Into Clean Community Clean-Up, collecting more than 4.9 tonnes of litter

The city's annual Spring Into Clean Community Clean-Up event is just over a month away. 

On Friday, April 26, there will be the Schools Participation Clean Up, which includes area parks and neighbourhoods around the schools. Registration deadline is Friday, April 5 at www.barrie.ca.

Saturday, April 27 will include a Waterfront Clean-Up from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Heritage Park. No registration is required and residents are invited to participate in a complimentary barbecue afterward.

On Sunday, April 28, the Community Clean Up will see groups and businesses cleaning of parks and public spaces. Registration deadline is Friday, April 5 at the city's website.

The city is also encouraging residents, families, businesses and other community organizations to participate in clean-ups in public parks and green spaces throughout Barrie by visiting the city's website to register.

In 2018, 18,000 residents participated in the Spring Into Clean Event with the collection of more than 4.9 tonnes of litter, which is approximately over 500 Spring Into Clean bags from across more than 100 different parks, trails, roadways and public spaces throughout the city.

This year, the city says even greater participation is expected.
