Byelection voting starts Saturday

Voting begins tomorrow to fill the vacant city council seat for Ward 7. There are 12 candidates competing for the spot.

Voting begins tomorrow to fill the vacant city council seat for Ward 7.

The candidates are Chris McElroy, Gary Harvey, Doug Jure, Elena Arruda, Darren Roskam, Jim Hosick, Andrew Prince, Jane Dewar, Randy Starr, Ram Faerber, Craig Ripley and Mike Montague.

All 12 candidates are invited to a participate in a debate on Jan. 28 at the Simcoe County Elementary Teachers' Federation office, 351 King St., Unit 1.

The debate, sponsored by the Barrie and District Labour Council, will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

Advance polls will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 4-9 p.m., and on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 4-9 p.m. at the Holly Community Centre, 171 Mapleton Ave., 

There will also be advance polls at Roberta Place and Roberta Lodge, 489 Essa Rd., on Jan. 26 from 9 -11:30 a.m.

Monday, Feb. 1 is the last chance to vote, with polls open at Holly Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and at Roberta Place from 9 to 10 a.m.
