Georgian Grizzlies women’s basketball Head Coach Andrew Broeren has announced that he will be stepping down from the role he has held the past three seasons beginning in the 2015-16 season.

As head coach, Broeren led the Grizzlies back to an OCAA playoff berth for the first time in seven years in 2017. In addition, his strong recruiting classes have set the program up for a bright future and success moving forward.

Broeren cites an expanding family at home as the reason for his departure.

“It is a difficult decision to step down as coach of this team,” said Broeren. “I’m proud of the work we did as a group and I will always feel a part of the Grizzlies family.”

“With a new baby girl on the way, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family.”

In the meantime, Assistant Coach Todd Talbot will assume the role as interim head coach while the process to find a new head coach begins immediately.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling,” said Intercollegiate Coordinator Jeff Harris. “We are certainly sad to see Andrew go, but we are also thrilled for him and his family during this exciting time.”

“His hard work and dedication to the team will not be easily replaced, but the impact he made will continue to help us moving forward.”

The job posting for the head coach position will be available in the near future.
