Break-in fail: Bungling suspect leaves DNA behind after pharmacy theft

Police are also reviewing surveillance footage and expect to release images

Police responded to a break and enter at Canadian Drug Mart, located on Wellington Street, in the City of Barrie, on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, just after 8 a.m.

An unknown suspect had gained entry into the store as a result of smashing the front window.

Once inside the suspect went directly to the pharmacy and managed to pry open a locked cabinet containing several narcotics.

In a rush to flee the store the suspect exited through the broken window, and as a result cut themselves leaving traces of blood behind as well as several bottles of narcotics outside.

Police were able to retrieve several pieces of evidence including DNA from the scene.

Investigators are reviewing video surveillance at this time.
