Editor's Note: This story has been changed from its original version as Village Media has since received confirmation that charges laid against the individual have been dropped.

A Bradford West Gwillimbury man facing four charges in an OPP child exploitation investigation was a teacher at two schools in York Region.

The 30-year-old man taught at Stonehaven Elementary School and Maple Leaf Public School, both in Newmarket, according to Licinio Miguelo, senior manager of communications at the York Region District School Board.

“We have been assured by York Regional Police that these charges are not related to any students or staff members at our school,” read a letter sent by Stonehaven’s principal and vice principal to parents Dec. 6.

“This has been very upsetting to our school community. (He) has been one of our teachers, however, has not been at Stonehaven E.S. since mid-November.”

A similar letter was sent to parents of students at Maple Leaf, said Miguelo.

Stonehaven is offering support to any students who need it, according to the letter.

“Our school will continue to take all reasonable measures to ensure student safety and well-being,” read the letter.

The Bradford man has been charged with two counts of luring a person under 16, sexual interference and attempted sexual assault.
