Boys give dog some water. Owner comes back with a knife

Police were called to the Bayfield Mall on Monday, December 21, just after 12 p.m. upon receiving reports that a male had threatened four people with a knife.

The three boys; ages 12 and 11 had been caring for a dog that was tied up and shivering outside Coffee Time.

The boys and an employee of Coffee Time had provided the dog with water.

After an extended period of time the owner returned and began yelling at them for touching his dog.

The male grabbed the dog and left the area.

The male returned moments later, with his dog and armed with a knife.

The employee and three boys immediately ran into Coffee Time and called 9-1-1.

Police located the male a short distance away and he was arrested without incident.

The restaurant employee and the three boys were not physically harmed during the incident.

The 24-year-old Barrie male has been charged with weapons dangerous and criminal harassment.

He was held for bail and will appear in a Barrie court Wednesday morning.
