The Women's Connection 2 is just a tad shy of its goal to raise at least $5,000 for the Women and Children's Shelter of Barrie.

On Monday night, Connect Hair Studio was crowded with supporters of the Shelter for a fundraiser that included a vendor's market, silent auction and door prizes along with wine, champagne and cheese.

Organizer and owner of Connect Hair Studio Sharon Smith says donations will be accepted until Friday in order to top up the $4,700 already raised.

It costs $5,000 to run the Shelter for one week.
