The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association has announced that Simcoe County lawyer Steve Rastin is once again being recognized throughout the Ontario legal community as one of the most influential lawmakers in the country.

Rastin joins just six other Ontario lawyers in OTLA history to receive the prestigious John A. McLeish Award.

This honour is given to the person who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of a fair trial and access to justice, as an advocate, in legal scholarship, continuing legal education, legal writing, journalism, politics or government.

Previous winners include industry giants such as Martin Wunder, Q.C. (2000), Robert Munroe (2002), Roger Oatley (2003), Tom Connolly (2008), George Bonn (2009) and Richard Halpern (2010).

The John A. McLeish award is one of OTLA’s major honours and is seen by many as a lifetime achievement award.

Rastin is Past President of the association and is a Midland resident with law offices in Barrie, Collingwood, Midland and Orillia.

He was honoured by his peers last week when they gathered in Toronto for the annual Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Spring Convention.
