After a few months of construction and preparation, Beertown Public House opened its doors today on Fairview Road.

The eatery, which employs 75 people, is located at 12 Fairview Rd., just off Highway 400 at the Essa Road exit.

"At a time when many restaurants are scaling back investments to weather the economic downturn, the Charcoal Group is confident there’s still a strong public appetite for its brand and emphasis on an extensive craft beer list and a diverse menu," the company said in an email to BarrieToday

Its hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Beertown, which spans more than 5,000 square feet of interior space, boasts one of the largest selections of craft beer in the province, with 40 on tap and the goal being to have at least one new beer everyday.

CEO Jody Palubiski previously told BarrieToday there's a lot of pressure every time he opens a new restaurant.

“When your name is Beertown, you really have to have a strong beer game,” Palubiski said.

Beertown selects craft beers from around the world and from the local companies, giving its customers a large selection.

“We try to have a superior list of styles, geographical significance and then bring it all into one place,” said Palubiski.

Under the Charcoal Group of restaurants, there are seven Beertown locations around Ontario.
