Barrie's New Year's baby a little miracle

Surprise pregnancy and early New Year's delivery for Barrie family

Her name means miracle in Spanish and the parents of Barrie's New Year's baby say that's exactly what she is.

Mireya Sills was born at 2:55 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2017 at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Mireya weighed six pounds three ounces and is a little sister to 22-month-old Parker.

"She was not planned," said mom Julie Moore of her surprise second pregnancy. "It took us ten months to conceive Parker and she just magically appeared one day."

The Spanish connection comes from the many vacations Moore and husband Brandon Sills take at the Mayan Riviera in Mexico.

Moore says both their children were conceived right after the couple returned from vacations in Mexico.

"There must be something there," joked the proud father. "I'm happy. I wanted a second child."

The couple had booked a cesarean section for Jan. 3 but baby Mireya obviously had other plans.

"It was her decision to come early," said Moore. "She decided to come on New Year's Day."
