A new survey ranks Barrie as the third most entrepreneurial city in Canada.

The survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business was done for the Financial Post.

Kelowna, B.C. was number one and Toronto periphery was ranked second.  Guelph followed Barrie at number four and Sherbrooke Quebec rounded out the top five.

The survey is done in honour of the annual small business week.

The CFIB poll ranks municipalities in Canada based on 14 indicators, including the number of self-employed people per total employed, business establishments per capita, business property tax rates and overall optimism, according to The Post.

The number three ranking is a move up for our city from 7th last year.

Barrie was sixth in the smaller city rankings.

Collingwood nabbed top spot in that category.
