Barrie man runs from police following domestic dispute call

Flight from police

On Monday, August 1 2016, at 2:15 a.m., South Simcoe Police received a call for a domestic dispute on a residential road in Alcona.

A short time later, officers observed the suspect vehicle travelling on Innisfil Beach Road with it's head lights off.

Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over resulting in a short police pursuit with the driver ditching the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Police service dog Chase and his handler arrested the suspect, a 23-year-old Barrie man, a short distance away.

The accused was taken into custody and charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous driving
  • Drive while prohibited

The accused was released on a promise to appear.
