The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Sunday, March 10, 2019, at 9 p.m., Barrie police responded to the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 380 Mapleview Dr. W. after a male left the store without paying for scented fragrance and a possible a second product.

It is believed that both items were concealed in his sweater as he left the store and ran eastbound across the parking lot toward the intersection of Mapleview Drive and Essa Road.

The male being sought is described as male white, early 30's, approximately 170 pounds, black beard, with a thin build, wearing white shoes, beige pants, green/red/yellow stripe sweater, and a 'Bass Pro' baseball cap.

It is possible that he may have been in the company of a female who left the store a few minutes after he did and set off a security alarm as her purse contained some make up related products that she claimed had been purchased for her by someone else.

She is described as female, white, approximately 40 years of age and wearing a grey shirt. She was last seen exiting the store and getting into what is believed to be a small four-door, blue-coloured Honda Civic.

Anyone with information on this attempted theft is asked to contact Constable McGill of the Barrie Police Service by email at [email protected]. You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.
