Plans for office and retail space at the Collier Centre will be 'announced soon,' according to the developer.

With the exception of Druxy's and the BMO Financial Group, retail space has sat empty for more than a year but that is expected to change in the near future.

"We’ve got some exciting plans to share soon about really vibrant new businesses that want to move in and be part of the buzz in the area. We’re also getting lots of inquiries for even more residential units too so we’re weighing all the options carefully. It’s an exciting time to be at the best new address in Barrie," said Jawad Rathore, President and CEO - Fortress Real Developments.

Collier Centre is designed for over 70,000 square feet of retail and of that, approximately 40,000 square feet was planned for a grocer tenant.  That hasn't panned out so far and Fortress is not tipping its hand about new retail tenants.

A sign on the building for a site plan application pertains to Fortress's proposal to convert the office tower and some above grade commercial space into an additional 113 apartments.

Residential condos in the building are 100 percent sold out, the majority of residents have moved in and residential condos have been registered, according to the builder.

"We’re thrilled to have the first residents move in and start enjoying their beautiful lake views as well as all that Barrie’s emerging downtown has to offer," Rathore.
