Afternoon fire at abandoned house extinguished; no injuries

Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate Essa Road blaze that required more than 20 firefighters to extinguish

Barrie Fire was called to a structure fire at 405 Essa Rd. Saturday afternoon and the Offie of the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

After getting the call at  2:55 p.m. Saturday, 21 firefighters eventually extinguished the fire at the abandoned house.

Barrie Fire Chief Cory mainprize told BarrieToday that “smoke and fire was visible upon arrival and crews were able to get the fire out about about a half hour ago (4:30 p.m.)

There were no injuries and the cause of the blaze and the dollar amount of damage are unknown at this time.
