The Midhurst Community Recreation Association is proud to announce the success of our 50th annual Midhurst Autumnfest Fall Fair, hosted at the Midhurst Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Close to 50 local vendors, dozens of volunteers, great food and fun games and contests were enjoyed by the hundreds of residents and visitors who came to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

This was the first year that Midhurst Autumnfest was held at the covered Pavilion on Spence Avenue, and the rain during the day confirmed the need for it. A ribbon-cutting for the Pavilion was also hosted at 10 o’clock on Saturday, attended by members of the MCRA, event organizers, local dignitaries and former councillors.

Speeches were given by MCRA Chair Roy Monk, MPP Doug Downey, MP Alex Nuttall, Councillor Jack Hanna, and Mayor Don Allen.

Some of the games and contests included tic-tac-toe, egg toss, watermelon eating contest, pie judging, watermelon smash, and tug-o-war; revenue from ticket sales for these contests all goes directly back into supporting the community.

Continuing with the years-old tradition, the Lions Club of Springwater Vespra was on hand, serving up burgers and hotdogs for attendees. The Lions Club were also selling tickets for their annual Duck Race, a Midhurst staple. The Pizza People, and Bayside Treats were also in attendance selling snacks.

All in all, the MCRA is very pleased with the great turnout and fundraising results of Midhurst Autumnfest, and thanks all of the vendors, volunteers, and attendees who made this one of our most successful events ever.
