407 new COVID cases in the region since Friday

There are 1,365 active cases in Simcoe County and Muskoka District

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting 407 new COVID-19 cases in its latest update published Dec. 20. 

This is the first update from the health unit since Friday.

The new cases include: 

  • Collingwood (8)
    • Three people under 18, three people between 35-44 years old, one person between 45-64 years old and one person between 65-79 years old. 
  • Clearview (5)
    • Two people between 18 and 34 years old, three people between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Wasaga Beach (11)
    • One youth under 18, four people between 18 and 34 years old, and six people between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Barrie (140) 
    • 15 youth under 18, 44 people between 18 and 34 years old, 19 people between 35 and 44 years old, 41 people between 45 and 64 years old, 14 people between 65 and 79 years old, and seven people over 79 years old. 
  • Springwater (27)
    • 14 youth under 18, three people between 18 and 34 years old, four people between 35 and 44 years old, and six people between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Innisfil (37) 
    • 11 youth under 18, 12 people between 18 and 34 years old, seven people between 35 and 44 years old, six people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. 
  • Bradford (32) 
    • Nine ​​​​​​​youth under 18, 12 people between 18 and 34 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, seven people between 45 and 64 years old, one person between 65 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old. three cases are outbreak-related and one is linked to close contact. ​​​​​​​

    • ​​​​​​​Four youth under 18, four people between 18 and 34 years old, five people between 35 and 44 years old, five people between 45 and 64 years old, and four people between 65 and 79 years old. 
  • Oro-Medonte (14)
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Four youth under 18, two people between 18 and 34 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, and four people between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Severn (7) 
    • Two ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​youth under 18, one person between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 45 and 64 years old, two people between 65 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old.  
  • Ramara (7) 
    • ​​​​​​​One youth under 18, three people between 18 and 34 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Midland (8)
    • ​​​​​​​Two youth under 18, four people between 18 and 34 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Tay (8) 
    • ​​​​​​​Three youth under 18, one people between 18 and 34 years old, three people between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. 
  • Tiny (10)
    • ​​​​​​​Four youth under 18, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, two people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old.
  • Penetanguishene (3) 
    • ​​​​​​​Two youth under 18, people between 18 and 34 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old.

Included in the new cases reported today are 121 unvaccinated, 12 partially vaccinated, and274 fully vaccinated people. 

There are 1,365 active cases in the region. 

Six people have been hospitalized since Friday's report for a total of 28 Simcoe-Muskoka residents currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 17,619 cases of COVID-19 with 15,970 of those cases recovered and 284 cases ending in death. 

About 75 per cent of the entire population of Simcoe-Muskoka has been fully vaccinated. Currently, 84 per cent of the population that is five years of age or older has received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
