NEWS RELEASE

BARRIE POLICE SERVICE

*************************
On Thursday, May 19, 2016, the Barrie Police Service will be hosting the 3rd annual Home Safe 5KM Run/Walk to benefit the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County and Autism Ontario - Simcoe County.

Last year the event attracted close to 100 participants and with the assistance of our esteemed sponsors we raised $3,220.

The event brought further awareness to our Vulnerable Person Registry, which now has over 40 registrants.

The Barrie Police Service is thrilled to have news anchor Tony Grace from CTV Barrie joining us as the Master of Ceremonies, and as a participant for a second year.

We’re also excited to have staff from Barrie Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation on hand to kick off this event with a dynamic warm-up.

The event will take place at Heritage Park. Participants will follow a marked route of 5km around Kempenfelt Bay, beginning and ending at Heritage Park.

All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to take part!

All registered participants are automatically entered into post-race draws, with several prizes from: Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery, Groovy Tuesday’s Bistro, Bayfield Lincoln Ford, Cabela's, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club and many more!

Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks, Rock 95 and KoolFM will be on-site to provide participants with pizza and refreshments following the 5km run/walk.
