23-year-old with Airsoft pistol arrested after convenience store holdup

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016 shortly after midnight police were called to a convenience store on Dunlop Street, West, in the City of Barrie for a report of a robbery.

A male suspect disguised with a mask entered the store armed with a handgun, and demanded money and cigarettes.

The employee complied and the suspect fled the store on foot with cash and cigarettes. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Uniform officers located the suspect nearby, after witnesses reported a male running towards Wellington Street, West. Canine officers recovered an air-soft pistol that had been used during the robbery.

The 23-year-old Barrie male will appear in bail court. He has been charged with:

  • Use of a firearm while committing an offence
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Utter threats
  • Disguise with intent
  • Breach of probation x2
