Eighteen people have been arrested following a police investigation into drug trafficking in Barrie's Little Avenue area.

Last month, the Barrie police street crime unit commenced an investigation following numerous complaints from community members in the area of 90 and 100 Little Ave.

On Friday, members of the street crime unit, with the assistance of the OPP's tactical response unit, York Regional Police emergency response unit and the Barrie police tactical support unit, executed four Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at several residences at 90 and 100 Little Ave., along with a residence on Megan Court.

Police say they have arrested 18 people and have seized a quantity of drugs and drug-related evidence.

The investigation will continue throughout the weekend and more information is expected to be released Monday.
