R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checks - Bradford

South Simcoe Police RIDE officers were out in various locations in Bradford on Friday December 4th.

Officers checked 810 vehicles for drivers who had been drinking.

A total of 24 drivers were tested for alcohol consumption on the roadside.

Five drivers were within the warn range and had their licences suspended and vehicles towed away.

Two drivers were charged with having open liquor in their vehicle.

Two young drivers (21 years or younger) who are not allowed to consume any alcohol, were found to be above zero BAC and were charged and suspended.

Three drivers were arrested for being over 80 mgs and now face Criminal charges.

These drivers had their vehicles impounded for a mandatory seven days and were given a 90-day licence suspension.

Officers also seized marihuana from two drivers after detecting the drug's odour in the vehicle.

Officers once again remind all motorists to not get behind the wheel if you have been drinking.
