Viva L'Italia! Friday Harbour salutes Italian culture and cars (11 photos)

Viva L'Italia continues all weekend at Friday Harbour Resort in Innisfil, including free outdoor screening of Back to the Future tonight

Every long weekend, Friday Harbour Resort in Innisfil holds a festival on a special theme, featuring vendors, food trucks, music and special guests.

On the Civic Holiday long weekend, the theme is Viva L’Italia!

Not only were there Italian flags on display and Italian-inspired cuisine available for purchase, there was also a Bocce ball tournament at the Beach Hut on Saturday and an all-Italia Car Show on the boardwalk featuring Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati dream cars.

While kids came for the parachute games, mini car races around the track at the Harbour Master Building, or the K’NEX car building challenge on the boardwalk, their parents came for the cars and a Campari on the Pier while the Kenn Lewis Steel Band, The Tavares Band, and Lauren Knowles provided the entertainment.

Saturday night wrapped up with a campfire on the beach and fireworks are scheduled for dusk.

Viva L’Italia continues on Sunday with more live music on the Pier: Coldjack Band from noon to 3 p.m., and Claudio Santaluce, 4 to 7 p.m. and the Supercar Show, from noon to 4 p.m.

There will be crafts, a pool-side lip-sync battle at the Beach Club Pool, water balloon musical chairs, and more.

Sunday night is Family movie night, with a free outdoor screening of Back to the Future on the pier from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. featuring free popcorn.

Monday’s activities include pinecone birdfeeder crafts, face-painting and tie-dyed T-shirts, with performances by Lisa Hutchinson on the Pier stage from noon to 3 p.m., and Jeff Eager from 4 to 7 p.m. Sorry, the Supercars won’t be there.

The next big event at Friday Harbour will take place on the Labour Day Long weekend.
