Theatre Collingwood has completed its search for a new home this year, and the result is more than one stage for this year’s productions.

Theatre Collingwood historically put on its live theatre shows at the Gayety Theatre downtown Collingwood. But the two groups have parted ways this year, and Theatre Collingwood has just released the list of venues for 2019.

“Our supportive and loyal patrons have been waiting to hear the exact locations for our 2019 shows and we are happy to announce the venues for this exciting Summer Theatre Festival now,” Theatre Collingwood executive director Erica Angus said in a press release. "The support we have received from the various locations, the artists, and the patrons has been overwhelming and we want to thank everyone.”

Last month, soon after announcing they wouldn’t be at the Gayety this year, Angus said there was a new opportunity to match the venue to the show.

Angus was particularly excited about a show by Leisa Way called Opry Gold, which is a tribute to the music of the Grand Ole Opry, at the Great Northern Exhibition Fairgrounds.

“This incredible gathering place has been a mainstay for community events from rodeos to weddings, and everything in between since 1855,” stated the Theatre Collingwood release. “Leisa and her Wayward Wind Band will be right at home.”

One of the first shows of the year, One Step at a Time, was at the Simcoe Street Theatre due to a request from the performer for an accessible venue. That show was booked before the Gayety and Theatre Collingwood disbanded their partnership.

Theatre Collingwood will return to the Simcoe Street Theatre for the first show of the season called Where You Are, a comedy about life on Manitoulin Island.

Other venues this season include the First Presbyterian Church on Maple Street, Blue Mountain Inn Conference Centre, and the Georgian Bay Hotel and Conference Centre
