Oro-Medonte rapper Cruisin' in California for new music video

Tie Bond releases video for new single; 'They can throw this song on when they’re cruising around L.A. and have the same vibe'

Nearly two years after shooting his first music video in Malibu, local rapper Tie Bond has released another one.

The 22-year-old from Oro-Medonte returned to California, where Chris Cordova directed the video for Cruisin’.

The video sees Bond slip into a daydream after making a delivery to a woman, played by actress Ali Rose.

“It’s probably my favourite video of the two,” he said of preferring Cruisin’ to Palm Trees. “It’s not just performance based. It’s got that little movie intro clip and the outro clip, too.”

The song was written last year, with Bond itching to get back to California to create a video for it.

In 2019, he said he was nervous when he arrived for the Palm Trees shoot. That wasn’t the case with Cruisin’.

“Everyone connected,” he said, referring to Rose as “super fun and easy going.”

Bond was happy to work again with Cordova, too, who directed the first video.

“He’s so talented behind the camera,” he said.

He hopes the Cruisin’ video — which aptly shows Bond and Rose cruising Los Angeles in a convertible — resonates with those who do the same.

“They can throw this song on when they’re cruising around L.A. and have the same vibe,” he said.

The reaction to the video so far has been “mind blowing.”

“They’re super happy for me. It keeps me inspired,” he said.

It’s not only the reaction that keeps him inspired. In the video and lyrics, Bond does not hide his affinity for marijuana.

“It definitely brings out the creative side of me. I’m not shy about it,” he said.

Some think it can make people lazy, but Bond isn’t buying it.

“Look at me, man. I’m out here grinding. I’m about working hard,” he said. “We should be more accepting.”

He encourages people to stay tuned for more singles and videos in the coming months. He also hopes to release an album in 2022.
