Multi-talented Stroud artist releases third single

Official music video for Anna Goldsmith's new song Miracle was filmed at Escape Room Barrie

Anna Goldsmith, a 15-year-old singer-songwriter and Stroud resident, recently released her third single, Miracle

Recorded with James Nickle at Cleveland Sound Lab in Vaughan, Miracle is available on all streaming services. As impressive as that is, the accomplished teenager is not only a powerful singer with an extensive background in musical theatre and an insightful lyricist, she plays dual roles as the narrator and the Mad Hatter in her second film, The Tea Party

Produced by With Grace Productions and currently on the film festival circuit, The Tea Party was written and directed by Goldsmith’s friend, Arianna Grace Goarley. It’s inspired by the tea party scene in the classic tale, Alice in Wonderland, with a major twist — Alice has ADHD.

It was “really important to me to be part of that project,” Goldsmith said, as she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in September 2022, when she was in grade nine.

Goldsmith is proud to be an advocate for ADHD, as it is often left out of the conversation. She explained that even though most people think ADHD affects a person’s ability to focus, the truth is that the experience of someone with ADHD is unique to the individual. “ADHD is like a snowflake,” she said.

Though she has struggled with ADHD symptoms such as the inability to process information and sit still, there is a silver lining to her diagnosis— she has the ability to be “hyper-focused” on things that interest her.

Her ability to hyper-focus may have helped her when she wrote, Miracle, which includes lyrics like, “I see what others do and it makes me believe in miracles.” She told InnisfilToday that she is inspired by people who are themselves; whether she’s creating music, sharing her stories through her songs, acting in a film, or talking about ADHD, Goldsmith is inspired to be herself too.

She can play the piano, clarinet, and guitar, but the 15-year-old artist is focused on deepening her musical expertise and development, so she started taking drum lessons. Inspired by artists from various decades and genres, Goldsmith resonates with Lady Gaga’s central message to be bold.

Goldsmith continues to work with professionals both near and far. For example, the official music video for Miracle was filmed at Escape Room Barrie and it was directed and edited by Noah Hollinshead. She is working with Jan Jansen at BluePurple Records in the Netherlands to complete her first album.

Happy to live in Innisfil, Goldsmith likes the feeling of community enjoyed here. She looks forward to singing the national anthem at the ceremony when Chief Designate John Van Dyke is sworn in as the Chief of the South Simcoe Police Service on March 9, 2023.
