The monumental weekend dedicated to rewarding and celebrating excellent student-driven musical theatre programs happened Jan. 13-15, 2023, at the Cobb Convention Center in Atlanta.

At the festival, each group performed 15 minutes of a Broadway Junior musical for adjudicators.

Moving Art presented Disney’s Moana Jr. to actor Krystina Alabado (Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls, Broadway; American Idiot, Broadway, and Better Nate Than Ever, assistant casting director); iTheatrics vice president of publications Steven G. Kennedy, and music director and vocal coach Tali Allen, who is director for Education at MUNY.

Kennedy said: "Moving Art’s Disney’s Moana Jr. was a joy from beginning to end. The great and varied character choices, gorgeous vocals, and fun choreography left me with a smile on my face! It's clear this cast is encouraged to take positive risks."

Alabado added: "Moving Art offered us great storytelling! The whole cast supported Moana so well and delivered such individual performances. I love how everyone worked together and supported each other."

Allen added: "Moving Art really had an unbelievably beautiful ensemble vocal, complete with inflection and expression. It’s rare to see this in performers of this age. It's clear they are receiving outstanding training! These performers are smart, focused actors with a lot of control of their vocal abilities."
