Georgina's Countryfest features music, car show, games

The July 27 event offers fun for the whole family

If you like all things country music, you'll want to put July 27 on your calendar for Countryfest at the ROC in Georgina.

Ten band will be hitting the stage, including The Beresfords, John Anderson, Evan Farrell, Dustin Bird, The Daybreak Moonshine Band and Cam Bogle.

Gates open at 10 a.m., with an opening ceremony at noon, with cake and the playing of Canada’s National Anthem sung by local talent Brigitte Wickens, who wowed the Stephen Leacock audience last April when she opened for the Tribute to Bruce Springsteen event.

After the opening ceremony another local, Magna Showdown contender Michael Chianelli will perform.

In addition to enjoying hits and favourites by talented musicians, it is also an opportunity to take a stroll through the park to shop with more than 50 vendors and food trucks. Fun for the whole family is guaranteed with a baby contest, food trucks, a three-legged race, pottery painting, inflatable castles, horse shoes, badminton, and so much more.

On the other side of the park, will be a car show, and a second stage, with the 55 Ramblers playing from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The car show offers cash awards for the top three prizes. To enter a car, the cost is $5.

Georgina Riptide Group is holding a beach volleyball tournament, and you can join a game of horse shoes.

Tickets are $5 general admission, $25 for VIP. Kids get in for free.

Three local charities, Peaceful Hearts, The Georgina Military Museum and Georgina Feral Cat Committee, will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Gates open at 10 a.m., and the music line-up doesn't end until 11 p.m.

Come on out and help make Countryfest a mainstay within the community.
