Enter Gilford's Haunted Barn... if you dare! (24 photos)

The Haunted Barn in Gilford opens Oct. 19 and runs until Oct. 30

Gilford's Haunted Barn is back for another spooky season and opened its doors Wednesday night.

Located at 2008 Gilford Rd., in Innisfil, resident Benny Dunsmoor and his family have decked out their property and rustic barn in tombstones, spiderwebs, lights, animatronics and all the eerie Halloween decor you could imagine for a freakishly fun night out with the family.

This is the third year in a row that the family has put on the experience.

Each room is decorated with a different theme, from a haunted nursery to a creepy hospital ward, with eerie "actors" lurking in the shadows ready to pop out at any moment for a scare. The actors are all family members and friends dressed up in costume for an added element of fun.

Before going through the barn, each registered group can select their preferred level of "scariness" they want to experience. For younger children, animations are turned off and lights turned on.

Admission is $2 for kids, and $5 for adults with part of the proceeds going to the Innisfil Food Bank and Christmas for Kids charities. Guests are also encouraged to bring in a non-perishable food item donation.

Last year, the barn saw 1,100 guests pass through, with more than 500 pounds of food and $2,200 raised for charity. Dunsmoor expects even more people and donations this year.

New this year to the barn is a gift shop featuring handmade ghoulish items like vampire blood necklaces, magic wands and trick-or-treat buckets from After Dark Crafting; a smoke machine; and an on-site fortune teller (additional fee for readings).

Wearing Halloween costumes is encouraged.
