As a victim of drunk driving, I want to thank you for your ongoing coverage of this needless selfish crime.

Every day in Canada, four people are killed and hundreds injured by drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Unfortunately, the numbers continue to grow at this time of the year across Canada.

Regrettably, many drunk drivers are having their charges reduced to careless driving during this time of COVID.

This one-time deal is offered when there is not a victim of this crime, just property damage.

Again speaking as a victim, these deals sicken me, but with the huge backlog in our courts only due to COVID, I get it.

COVID-19 aids drunk drivers to have their charges reduced to careless driving, not the driver’s innocence.
