The Ward 6 recount was unnecessary and wasteful.

The recount decision was made by a group of defeated councillors who chose to ignore court precedent, the lack of evidence of voting error, and the history of recounts that rarely overturn election results.

It’s tough to lose by four votes. It’s also challenging for defeated council members to set aside their bias, and make objective decisions after suffering a stinging rebuke, but that doesn’t mean the public have to pay for their disappointment.

The recount did not change the result and confirms the election results are reliable.  It also means the public can rest easy knowing they made the right decision to show the former council members the exit door.
