An all-candidates meeting will be held Feb. 18, at Grace United Church, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Because this unnecessary election has been called on very short notice, in the middle of winter, and amidst a national and global crisis brought on by the U.S., there is very little time to have honest, intelligent information gathering to determine who best to take Ontario forward during these times.
Thus, there will be a 'meet and greet' of the candidates from 6:15 to 7 p.m., then a general meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. of various local groups working for a healthier, more equitable Ontario.
I have been a volunteer for a few years with the Ontario coalition for Better Health Care over the years. They have done tremendous work raising the issue of the decline in public health care largely spearheaded by the Ford government.
There are now 2.5 million people in Ontario who do not have access to primary health care. This includes family doctors, nurse practitioners and community health centres.
Other groups participating in the debate will be education, environmental, The Greenbelt Coalition, housing, labour and more.
It is important that the people of Barrie attend to find out more about the issues.
Myrna Clark
