Mr. Ford, you always boast you listen to the people. Please tell me how many people and organizations, clubs, etc., demanded the Greenbelt be developed?

I am in contact with hundreds of organizations and individuals in Ontario and not a single one of them has declared they want the mandates of the conservation authorities curtailed or they want million-dollar homes built on precious farmland and the protected food sources and habitats of wildlife.

Mr. Ford, you might need hearing aids as you simply did not hear yourself when you adamantly declared the Greenbelt will not be touched and once again you are not hearing the cacophony of voices begging you to cancel Bill 23.

As well, another refrain we hear constantly coming out of your mouth is you want to put money in the pockets of hard-working taxpayers.

By wantonly destroying vast tracts of the Greenbelt, you are putting money in the developers’ pockets at the expense of farmers and residents of Ontario.

As there is less and less farmland for farmers to grow our food, farmland will skyrocket and farmers simply will not be able to buy farmland in their own province.

So, consumers will have to rely more and more on imports to put food on the table.

I urge you to do what your kindergarten teacher taught you a long time ago — if you made a mistake, say you are sorry and fix it.

Gwen Petreman
Barrie
