In response to Bob’s comments/concerns about sidewalk conditions in his ward, I wish to offer my thanks to city staff and contractors, who I feel do a fantastic job keeping our sidewalks clear of ice and snow.

I’ve seen these sidewalk brushes in use across the city. I guess they do a good job when the light fluffy snow has come down, but I leave that judgment to the experts.

With hundreds of miles of sidewalks to clear, I think the city does a good job. When we get a large accumulation of snow over an extended period, it’s just tough to keep up.

All’s good here in Ward 1. Let’s hope that residents continue to enjoy snow removal of their sidewalks.

What if our city went to the practice in Toronto where homeowners are responsible for the clearing of sidewalks in front of their property?

Never say never, but as councillors sharpen their pencils around the city’s budget table, it might just be a suggestion.

Many thanks to city staff that keep our roads and sidewalks clear of ice and snow. While I’m warm and sleeping, they are out in the elements doing great work.
