I was pleased to see the letter you published regarding noisy vehicles. The author of the letter made many valid points regarding uncontrolled noise, and uncontrolled speed on our streets. Her recommendation that these issues should be raised during municipal election campaigns makes a lot of sense.

We moved here three years ago and we love Barrie. However, due to noisy vehicles, it is impossible to sit outside and carry on a conversation. At times, it is even difficult to hear anything inside with doors/windows open.

Drivers who refuse to put appropriate mufflers on their vehicles show no respect or consideration for everyone else.

A few weeks ago, Barrie police said they would take steps to address this problem. The noise levels seem to be getting worse. Are charges being laid? Have the courts dealt with any of these charges? An update from the mayor, or the police, would be appreciated.

No one has the right to take away our right to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather.

We hope BarrieToday continues to address these issues.
