Special weather statement in effect for:
- Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
Widespread snowfall likely tonight followed by lake effect snow squalls on Tuesday.
An approaching Alberta Clipper will spread an area of snow into Central Ontario beginning later today. The snow will begin to taper off Tuesday morning with a general snowfall of 5 to 10 cm expected.
Although localized higher amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible, snowfall warnings are not expected as amounts will be less than the 15 cm per 12 hour threshold required.
Poor winter driving conditions are expected to continue as a result.
On Tuesday, conditions will become favourable for the development of lake effect snow squalls in northwest flow over Georgian Bay. Snow squall watches will likely be issued later today.
