Ten new COVID cases reported at Simcoe County schools since Friday

Affected Barrie schools include Steele Street, Portage View and St. Peter's; Schools remain open

Ten new cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Simcoe County schools since Friday.

The Simcoe County District School Board's Education Centre in Midhurst is reporting a second case, adding to one first on Nov. 27.

Steele Street Public School in east-end Barrie is reporting one case, with one classroom closed.

Portage View Public School, also in west-end Barrie, is reporting one case, with one classroom closed. The school had one previously reported case on Nov. 5, however that case has since recovered.

St. Peter's Catholic High School in Barrie's south end is reporting one new case of COVID-19 at the school, with one classroom closed. One other case had been previously reported at the school on Oct. 19, but has since recovered.

East Oro Public School in Oro-Medonte Township is reporting one case today, and one classroom is closed.

One classroom has been closed at Our Lady of Loudes Catholic School in Elmvale due to one new COVID-19 case.

Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia is reporting one case, with one classroom closed. The school was the first in Simcoe County to report a COVID case back on Sept. 15 in a teacher. That case has since recovered.

Bradford District High School is reporting a new case, with no classrooms closed. This marks the second currently active case at the school, adding to a case first reported on Nov. 24.

Banting Memorial High School in Alliston is reporting two new cases, with two classrooms closed. The school had previously reported a case on Nov. 2 where two classrooms were closed as a precaution, however that case has since recovered.

The schools all remain open.

The school boards and the health unit have not reported whether the individuals are students or staff members.
