NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
*************************
With the cancellation of in-person camps this season due to COVID-19, the Town of Innisfil is excited to announce several new camp experiences. This summer, Innisfil is taking programming online for campers aged 6 to 13 years old looking to participate in camp from the comfort of their own home or backyard.

From July 13 to Aug. 28, 2020 Active Innisfil’s experienced and energetic staff will offer fun virtual camp options:

  • Virtual Town of Innisfil Camp brings summer day camp fun hosted by favourite past Camp Counsellors. This virtual camp occupies children from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and costs $75 per week. Many of the same traditional camp activities will continue virtually based on a weekly theme, including cherished camp songs, games and crafts.
  • Virtual Brain Chase Camp gives children a fun, social experience to keep them occupied with adventure learning from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Campers will have full-time support from online camp guides who lead groups through team-building games. This camp costs $145 per week.

Both of these online, interactive programs will be live-streamed on Zoom.

Camp in a Box
Campers who wish to go at their own pace can register for “Camp in a Box” and enjoy camp-inspired activities in an at-home setting. Each camper will receive all of Innisfil’s summer camp fun packed in a box, with a week’s worth of daily activities, crafts (supplies included), songs and video instructions! From wilderness to Hollywood, each week has a new theme for campers to enjoy and is appropriate for all ages. The Camp in a Box program is $40 per week.

“Although we’ll miss connecting with our camp families in person, we’re thrilled to deliver a high-quality camp experience virtually this year,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Our Camp Counsellors have worked hard to create fun, engaging camp activities that kids can take home or participate in real-time with other campers.”

For more information and to register for a fresh camp experience this summer, please visit innisfil.ca/ActiveInnisfil or call 705-436-3710. Payment plans are available.

Virtual and take-home summer camps are the latest additions to Active Innisfil’s virtual platform, which already includes free on-demand fitness classes, wellness resources, and other general interest programs. Staff continually review best practices and health guidelines to re-assess future programming.
