Just one day after an outbreak was declared over at Owen Hill Care Community, public health officials have reinstated the status after a health-care worker at the long-term care home in downtown Barrie tested positive for COVID-19.
The outbreak was originally declared April 24.
According to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, there have been 48 cases confirmed among 21 staff and 27 residents.
There have also been 11 resident deaths at Owen Hill as of Thursday, May 28.
Owen Hill Care Commmunity is now the only long-term care facility in Simcoe County with a declared outbreak.
