One new COVID case in Simcoe County today

The region's health unit has confirmed a new COVID-19 case in Simcoe County today. 

An Orillia woman between the ages of 35 and 44 years old is the latest person to test positive for the coronavirus, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. The transmission source for her case is under investigation. 

This is the first case reported in Orillia since July 30. Previously, all Orillia cases were reported as recovered. 

Yesterday, the health unit reported a single case in Muskoka and none in Simcoe County. The Muskoka case was originally listed as under investigation, but today has been reported as a travel-related case. It is the first confirmed case in Muskoka District since June. 

The health unit reported three new recoveries today, and has also noted there is one new hospitalization – a case previously reported from Ramara. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 669 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 637 of those cases located in Simcoe County.

There are 621 cases now recovered and 37 people have died in the region. 

There are still 11 active cases in the county including residents from Barrie (4), Bradford (1), Orillia (1), New Tecumseth (2), Innisfil (1), Essa (1), and Ramara (1). There is one active case in Muskoka.

In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 112.2 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
