We know we speak for our entire communities when we say: we are all grateful for the efforts of those on the frontline in the battle against COVID-19. Our frontline health care workers are doing a tremendous job during unprecedented circumstances.
As you may know, Ontario released A Framework for Reopening our Province on April 27. The framework provides guiding principles to a three-staged approach to the safe, gradual reopening of businesses, services and public spaces. Today, Ontario is in the first of the three stages outlined in the framework. This stage is focused on reopening workplaces that are well-positioned to follow public health advice, like physical distancing and limits in the number of people gathered.
As the government continues with a staged approach to reopening the economy, we want to hear from you.
The Ontario Jobs and Recovery Committee and MPPs are consulting with a wide variety of people across the province, to help assess the impact of COVID-19 on the provincial economy and develop a plan to move forward. Both Premier Ford and Finance Minister Phillips have been clear: they need to know what the economic impacts are on every community in Ontario. We are a province of 444 municipalities, each affected differently by COVID-19.
As Members of Provincial Parliament, we represent the people of Barrie—Innisfil and Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte, both in the Legislative Assembly and by advocating to the Ontario Jobs and Recovery Committee.
We want to find solutions to help people and businesses on the road to economic recovery and hear your feedback regarding how the government can best support you now and in the future.
