INNISFIL – Four charities serving the Innisfil community received a much-needed financial boost as Innisfil Community Foundation (ICF) announced the first recipients of its COVID-19 Relief Grants.

A total of $24,000 was granted to Candlelighters Simcoe, Ontario Parents Advocating for Children with Cancer (OPACC), Christmas for Kids (all year round) and RVH Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to be able to support our community during this challenging time,” stated Sandra Rizzardo, Chair of the Innisfil Community Foundation Board of Directors. “Each of these organizations plays a pivotal role in the health and well-being of our community. Now, more than ever, they need our help to continue their incredible work.”

Funds directed to Candlelighters and OPACC will support the families of local children undergoing cancer treatment, who are facing additional challenges and expenses during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Christmas For Kids will direct funds to provide food to vulnerable teens and distribute baby formula, diapers, fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and more, to families at high-risk of poverty.

RVH Foundation will use the funds to help purchase a ventilator – a life-saving tool that is essential in giving COVID-19 patients the best chance at a full recovery.

“This grant is a special investment in the health of our community in light of the COVID-19 crisis,” says Rizzardo. “It is important for Innisfil Community Foundation to do our part to ensure RVH has the tools they need to treat our friends, neighbours and loved ones when they need it the most.”

COVID-19 Relief Grants remain open, with over $25,000 in grants still available. Charities and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply at www.getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/grants.

With additional needs emerging in the community each day, ICF is looking for community support to help ensure that local charities can continue to respond to Innisfil’s changing needs. That is why, this Tuesday, May 5, ICF is asking for Innisfil to come together for #GivingTuesdayNow.

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving and unity that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. This Tuesday, if you can, ICF  encourages you to donate generously to their COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund to help even more charities in our community.
