Four new COVID cases in county today, including one in Barrie

Other new cases are being reported in Bradford, Penetanguishene, and Innisfil

The region's health unit has confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, bringing the total for the week up to eight new cases. 

Last week, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported seven cases between July 6 and 10. Three of the five days, the health unit reported zero cases. 

Today, the health unit reported a new case in Bradford West Gwillimbury, which hasn't had a case since June 26. The latest case is a woman between 35 and 44 years old. The transmission source is under investigation. 

There's a new case in Barrie as well, a woman between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source is listed as community-acquired. 

Barrie's total number of cases, however, has not changed from 185. One case reported yesterday, a man between 65 and 79 years old, has been removed from the health unit's list of positive cases.

A woman between 45 and 64 from Innisfil is also among the confirmed cases today. She was a close contact of another known case. 

The final new COVID-19 case reported today is a woman between 45 and 64 years old from Penetanguishene. The transmission source is under investigation. This is the first case reported in Penetanguishene since June 12.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 616 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date, with 585 of those reported in Simcoe County.

Thirty-six people have died and the health unit has reported 559 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 103.6 cases per 100,000 people in the population. 

There are 19 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including three people hospitalized, according to the health unit's July 14 epidemiological report. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will enter Stage 3 of the province's reopening plan on Friday.
