11 new COVID cases in Simcoe County today, including three people under 18

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County today, including three youth under 18. 

The youngest cases include a Bradford boy and a Barrie boy under 18, both of whom are close contacts. A third male youth under 18 from New Tecumseth is also on today's list of cases, but the transmission is still under investigation. 

There are two other cases in Barrie, both men between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission sources are under investigation. 

There are three more cases in Bradford West Gwillimbury included in today's update, all three are men with one between 35 and 44 years old and one between 18 and 34 years old – both close contacts. The third man is between 45 and 64 years old and his case is community-acquired. 

The remaining cases reported by the health unit today include two women between 18 and 34 from New Tecumseth and Adjala-Tosorontio Township, and a man between 18 and 34 from Oro-Medonte Township.

This month, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 186 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19. The most cases reported by the regional health unit in a month was 190 cases reported in May. 

Neither the Simcoe Muskoka District Catholic School Board nor the Simcoe County District School Board has reported any new school-related cases today.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 894 cases of COVID-19, with 833 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 767 cases listed as recovered. There are no hospitalizations reported on the health unit website. Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 75 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County.
